What is BioMid Fiber?

BioMid Fibers is a non-twisted, continuous filament yarn  comprised of 900 filaments, 11 microns in diameter for a total of 1650 denier.

A reinforcement yarn for composites, plastics and rubber.

Used by Textile Companies to produce:

  • Woven Fabrics
  • Multi-axial Fabrics
  • Braids
  • Substrate for prepreg

As a Continuous yarn:

  • Pultrusion
  • Filament Winding
  • Substrate yarn for nickel coating
  • D-LFT
  • Yarn for precision cutting into chopped strands
  • Precursor for bio-based carbon fiber
  • Raw material for producing bio-nano-fiber

As a Functional yarn:

  • For use in commercial greenhouses as a bio-based trellis yarn

Product Example

High bio-content pultruded profile

Traditional natural fibers are made of twisted slivers that contain varying amounts of cellulose and are not well suited for the pultrusion process.

BioMid, being continuous and containing 100% cellulose, provided an optimal solution. Combined with a high bio-content resin, a ~70% bio-content pultruded profile was able to be produced.
